Prakasha
Made for The Worst Game Jam 2025, Prakasha is a choose your own adventure game where you use a deck of tarot cards and a d6 dice to play out the story.
The theme of the Game Jam was: Beacon in the Dark. You can follow the process of its creation on my blog!
Note: If you don't have a deck of tarot cards or a d6 dice, you can still play! The game can randomly roll dice and pull cards on your behalf.
About the inspiration
Prakasha means Light in Gujarati. The story is loosely based on Navratri: A nine night festival about the goddess Durga fighting a dark demon. The festival also celebrates the Divine Feminine.
This felt so appropriate to base my game off for a number of reasons
- I know the holiday, having gone to events to celebrate it when I was young.
- The holiday celebrates the Divine Feminine. The theme is based off of the title of an episode of the podcast: Girl Mode.
- The holiday takes place over nine nights… which also happened to be the same amount of time I had to work on the game!

What a cool concept!! Love the idea of using your own Tarot cards to make choices in the game.
Also hell yeah Ink! I love making games using it
This is a lot of fun, and I'm glad to have a reason to find my old tarot deck.
This was so cool! I played it a couple times and I feel like the replayable nature really adds a lot - it felt like hearing the same legend told by different people, with tweaks or changes that lead to different outcomes and themes or morals. The presentation is also just great. Really really cool.
this was a lot of fun!! i rolled exclusively 1's and 2's for the final fight and prakasha did not live to see the demon defeated, however :,) already looking forward to doing a second run and seeing how things might go!
even if it was a decision made bc of crunch (per your reply to Jesus3), there is something really interesting narratively about having branching moments that then converge back onto a pre-ordained set of actions. it felt very hero's quest or folkloric, and i thought it was intentional! would love to see what you could've made with a little more time though, this was really compelling.
I really liked this! Went through it a couple times and enjoyed the differences in each attempt.
One minor issue I noticed is that piles 4 and 5 are automatically drawn even if you selected that you have your own deck. This was a lot of fun.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, I had to reduce the scope of the game to get it done in time, and so there is one choice about halfway through that pushes you to use either the whole Pile 4 or Pile 5 without you knowing.
My initial goal was to continue the branching style throughout the entire story, and if inspiration strikes in the future, I'll push out an update to do that.
